Creating a Warm & Welcoming Home for the Holidays

When it comes to holiday gatherings in your home, your kitchen is the heart of it all. There are so many ways that you can get your home prepped for entertaining and gatherings throughout the holiday season and we wanted to create a list of things to get you started with the process of the sometimes-overwhelming holiday to-do’s. Whatever your holidays entail. getting your home ready will help alleviate any worries.

Set the scene in your kitchen

Your kitchen is not meant to be perfect, and even with your halls decked everything is bound to get out of place at some point. While everything may look beautifully pulled together before the guests arrive, it’s perfectly normal to have some clutter. Before your guests arrive there are a few things you may want to have on hand, these are items that can easily be picked up at local stores.

-For starters, having fresh soap by your sink always sets a welcoming tone, a holiday scent or even a subtle scent is a perfect choice that appeals to everyone.

-Fresh hand towels, a holiday print or even a simplistic white goes with everything and creates a refreshed look in your kitchen.

-Vignettes in the corners of your kitchen or even centered on an island will create a beautiful look, and choosing items that are not just centered around the holidays but have a winter look will give you versatility to use them throughout the entire winter season.

In the pantry

A well-stocked pantry is a great way to prep yourself for the unknowns of the holiday season. If guests stop by unexpectedly, or family stays for an extended period of time. Having plenty of easy to make items in your pantry will ensure you have enough options for everyone.

-Having no-cook essentials that will stay good for a long period are always key to have stocked. Whether it’s crackers, cookies, or chips these are the perfect appetizers to get you started.

-Shop with a list, think about what meals you may want to make and all the ingredients to go along with them. The best part about having all of those items on hand is that you will know you have plenty of go-to meals at the ready.

-Go through your pantry with an for organizing. If there are items that need to be cleared out then doing so before you stock up will keep everything organized.

Space to serve guests

There are many ways that serving larger groups of people can be accomplished, and often times it depends on the amount of space you have in your kitchen. Through maximizing the space in your kitchen and surrounding spaces of your home you create

-Entertaining is made easier with an island and for entertaining, it is the perfect place to lay out food and also offers the perfect space to eat and enjoy

-Serving food on a buffet style layout may work best for the larger gatherings, it will give your kitchen plenty of flow for people to get what they need in an informal way

-Cutting boards and trays are another great option to serve food in a beautiful and presentable way

Onto the dining

Having plenty of space within your home for people to dine will be a great way to make sure everyone has a comfortable place to sit. Shopping with a menu in mind gives you plenty of opportunity to prep before your guests come and you’ll feel more relaxed knowing you have everything you need.

-Create a menu of meals that have a wide appeal, and keep those ingredients on hand

-Having plenty of seating space can be tough, but making sure that you account for everyone who will be dining at your house may require different zones of seating.

-Flatware for everyone is important. Whether you choose holiday dishware or your everyday go-to dishes, making sure that you have a head count and enough place setting for everyone is key.

Whatever your holiday season entails remember that your home is a place where so many memories are made. Keeping your home ready for this busy time of the year will give you peace of mind and make the entire season more enjoyable.
